I have lived in this sweater the last few days. It is just so comfy and soft. It’s warm without making me feel like I am wearing a massive heavy jumper, it’s thin enough to comfortably put a jacket over it or a vest under it. I think this might end up being my most worn, most favourite make this winter. I have plans for another already in the lotus red, dark heathered grey and black, but I don’t think I will bother to colour block the sleeves.I was amazed at how much things in the world of sewing had changed since I last plugged in my machine. Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram - I have become sewing-obsessed!
I’m the sort of person who needs to be busy with my hands in order to feel calm and centred: I embroider while watching TV, have stitched entire Alabama Chanin designs over beach holidays, drawn people while I wait in airports and I am constantly making and fixing things. My mum taught me to sew when I was little (I still have the hand-stitched, fringed rock-god waistcoat that I made for my teddy Iggy-Oggy when I was 6? 7?- Well, he still has it and I still have him!).
But I never thought I’d make my own clothes.
